Two protesters affiliated with the animal rights organization PETA interrupted the COS Spring 2027 show during New York Fashion Week on Sunday, resulting in a physical confrontation with the event’s CEO. The incident occurred in Manhattan before an audience that included actress Michelle Williams.

The demonstrators entered the runway area waving signs and chanting slogans calling for a ban on wool in the fashion industry. Their protest was quickly met by Steven Kolb, CEO of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), who intervened to remove the protesters. Video footage shows Kolb grabbing their signs and confronting the individuals, notably putting his hands around one of the protesters, identified as PETA campaigner Mason Melito, in an attempt to silence the chanting. Melito was then escorted off the premises by security personnel. Kolb also reportedly restrained another protester who called for protections for sheep.

Following their removal, the protesters proceeded to a nearby police precinct. According to statements given to local media, they are contemplating filing charges related to the altercation. The CFDA and event organizers have not provided further comment on the matter as of this writing.
