Peterborough Sports earned their first win of the season with a 2-1 victory over Anstey Nomads in a closely contested match. The game, played on Saturday, saw the home side take an early lead through Ben Beresford before the visitors quickly equalized.

The breakthrough came in the 12th minute when Beresford connected with a corner, heading the ball onto the crossbar before following up to score from close range. Anstey Nomads responded swiftly as Luis Rose found the net with a low shot from the edge of the box, beating goalkeeper Tom Jackson to level the score.

Peterborough Sports regained the advantage in the 38th minute with a well-coordinated move. Jackson’s long ball was expertly controlled by Beresford, allowing Leon Lobjoit to run onto it and sweep a first-time shot into the bottom-right corner. The score remained 2-1 at halftime.

After the break, Anstey Nomads tested Jackson with a curling effort from distance, but the goalkeeper was able to keep the lead intact. The Turbines looked to extend their advantage through substitutes Finn O’Boyle and Harvey Williams, both creating chances that came close but ultimately missed the target or were saved.

Tensions flared late in the match when Anstey Nomads’ manager Conrad Logan received a red card following a confrontation near the dugouts. Despite pressure in stoppage time, including a near goal by Michael Richens whose shot struck the woodwork, Peterborough Sports held firm to claim their first victory of the campaign.
