Phil Mickelson has been accused of making inappropriate advances toward the wife of fellow professional golfer Pat Perez using an explicit photograph, according to a recent report. The incident allegedly took place in 2015 during preparations for the PGA Tour’s Barclays tournament at Plainfield Country Club in Edison, New Jersey.

The report states that Mickelson invited Perez and his then-wife, Ashley, to stay with him at his nearby villa. While the group was drinking wine on the patio, Perez excused himself to use the restroom. It was during this time that Mickelson purportedly showed Ashley a full-body nude photo of himself on his phone, flexing with an erection. Following this, Mickelson is said to have suggested that he would leave his bedroom door open that night for Ashley to visit after Perez had fallen asleep. Ashley reportedly rejected these advances, and after the tournament, she disclosed the event to Perez.

According to Pat Perez, he shared the story widely within the golf community, leading to Mickelson’s reputation becoming the subject of informal discussion among Tour players. The report further details that Mickelson has apologized to Perez on two occasions. The first apology occurred in person at the Madison Club in Southern California, and the second was delivered during a 26-minute phone call following a 2022 podcast interview in which Perez expressed strong negative feelings toward Mickelson.

During the phone conversation, Mickelson reportedly oscillated between expressing remorse and claiming he did not recall the specific events of that night. At one point, Mickelson appeared to suggest that the photograph shown was of him topless—but not fully nude. Despite this, he offered a direct apology to both Pat and Ashley Perez, stating that he was “disgusted and embarrassed” by his conduct.

Mickelson, a three-time Masters champion, has been married to his wife Amy for 30 years. The allegations and subsequent revelations have drawn significant attention within the professional golfing community. Mickelson’s representatives have not publicly commented on the matter as of this report.
