The Philippine government has strongly condemned a video posted by China Daily, a state-run Chinese media outlet, that featured AI-generated imagery portraying Filipinos as monkeys. Manila described the video as "racist," "offensive," and "distressing," calling for its immediate removal from social media.

The controversial video appeared on China Daily’s Facebook page earlier this month, prompting swift criticism from Philippine officials. Gilberto Teodoro, the country’s defense secretary, labeled the video as "contemptible propaganda" and said it was "a disgrace to any state that claims to exercise responsible regional leadership."

In response to the incident, the Philippine government formally demanded that China Daily take down the video. Efforts to obtain a comment from the Chinese embassy in Manila were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.

The incident adds to ongoing tensions between the Philippines and China, particularly regarding diplomatic relations and regional issues in Southeast Asia.
