British deep technology company PhysicsX officially launched its Asia-Pacific regional hub in Singapore on October 8, marking a strategic move to expand its presence in the region. Founded in 2019 by two former Formula 1 engineers, PhysicsX specializes in developing artificial intelligence models tailored for manufacturing critical components such as jet engine parts and semiconductor fabrication machinery.
The Singapore hub, located on Robinson Road, currently employs around 20 staff members and plans to increase its workforce to over 100 within the next three years. The expansion will include roles such as forward-deployed engineers, physics AI researchers, and simulation engineers. This growth aligns with the company’s broader strategy as it leverages a recent funding boost from a US$300 million Series C round led by Temasek, which elevated PhysicsX’s valuation to approximately US$2.4 billion.
PhysicsX has experienced significant growth in Europe and the United States and aims to establish close collaborations with both public and private sector partners across Asia-Pacific. The new Singapore base is intended to bring its technology and engineering capabilities nearer to customers in the region, facilitating faster innovation and support.
In conjunction with the launch, PhysicsX announced a five-year partnership with the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), underpinned by a S$40 million investment. This collaboration aims to advance AI-powered engineering simulation tools designed to help researchers and engineers streamline the design and optimization of complex industrial processes across multiple sectors.
PhysicsX’s simulation technology has already demonstrated practical benefits; for instance, offshore energy company Seatrium reported a 40% reduction in the time needed to optimize pipe-layout designs using the platform.
Speaking at the event held at Temasek Shophouse, PhysicsX CEO and co-founder Jacomo Coro emphasized the critical role AI is expected to play in improving physical world applications, including aircraft, semiconductor chips, energy systems, and industrial infrastructure. Coro highlighted Singapore’s combination of advanced industry capabilities, a strong talent pool, excellent research ecosystem, long-term capital, and proactive government AI policies as key reasons for selecting the city-state as the company’s Asia-Pacific base.
Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong underscored Singapore’s commitment to integrating AI deeply into business operations and workforce development. As part of the National AI Missions initiative, the government focuses on transforming sectors such as advanced manufacturing, connectivity, finance, and healthcare, which collectively represent over 40% of the country’s GDP. Gan characterized PhysicsX as a natural partner in this drive, with the company’s technologies positioned to support local manufacturers in enhancing competitiveness and expanding capabilities.
Temasek CEO Dilhan Pillay pointed out that in engineering-intensive industries, reconciling safety, cost, and performance remains a substantial challenge. AI applications like those developed by PhysicsX can help address issues related to cost pressures, manpower shortages, energy efficiency, supply chain resilience, and innovation speed. He emphasized that PhysicsX’s unique combination of advanced AI and deep engineering knowledge makes it a valuable addition to Temasek’s portfolio. Temasek initially invested in PhysicsX during a US$135 million Series B funding round in June 2025.
From the customer’s perspective, Lee Wee Lii, Seatrium’s Digital Senior Vice-President, noted that in an environment of increasing complexity and demand, AI-driven innovation is critical for sustainable growth. He highlighted Seatrium’s intention to deploy physics-based AI across various business functions—including engineering, procurement, construction, product development, and lifecycle services—to augment human expertise, accelerate innovation, and enhance project outcomes globally.
