The Department of Rural Development, operating under the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development, conducted a fund disbursement ceremony yesterday for the Mya Sein Yaung (MSY) Village Project in Kantha Village, located in Pindaya Township of the Danu Self-Administered Zone, Shan State (South). The event marked the distribution of revolving loans aimed at supporting local income-generating activities.

Pyithu Hluttaw Representative U Win Zaw delivered the opening remarks at the ceremony. Daw Aye Aye Thein, head of the Department of Rural Development for the Danu Self-Administered Zone, outlined the goals and anticipated benefits of the MSY Village Project. She emphasized the project’s focus on economic development and sustainable livelihoods for village residents. U Aung Kyaw, head of the Pindaya Township Department of Rural Development, provided details on the procedures for disbursing the project funds.

Kantha Village will utilize K30 million in funding from the MSY Village Project to support family-run income-generating activities. Under the oversight of township and regional officials, revolving loans were provided at low interest rates to 60 local participants involved in various sectors. Among the recipients, 34 individuals engaged in agriculture received a total of K17.3 million, 18 participants involved in livestock breeding were granted K8.6 million, and eight traders obtained K4.1 million in funding.

The revolving loan scheme is designed to encourage economic self-reliance by enabling beneficiaries to reinvest repayments into the project, thereby creating a sustainable source of financing for community development in the region. Officials highlighted that the initiative aligns with broader rural development goals aimed at improving livelihoods and reducing poverty within the Danu Self-Administered Zone.
