Pizza Express conducted an internal inquiry to verify whether Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor visited its Woking restaurant on March 10, 2001, a date significant to allegations made against him. The former prince had stated in a 2019 interview that he was at the restaurant with his daughter, Princess Beatrice, on the day Virginia Giuffre accused him of sexual misconduct.

Giuffre alleged that on March 10, 2001, when she was 17, she dined and danced with Andrew before engaging in sexual activity at Ghislaine Maxwell’s residence in Belgravia, London. Andrew has denied these claims, asserting that such an encounter did not take place and maintaining that he spent the evening at home after taking his daughter to a party at the Pizza Express in Woking.

The inquiry by Pizza Express involved searching for records from 2001 and attempting to contact former staff and local management. The investigation found no definitive evidence confirming or disproving Andrew’s presence at the restaurant that day. Records from that period were unavailable, and the Woking branch manager at the time had left the company, limiting the investigation’s scope.

During the 2019 Newsnight interview with Emily Maitlis, Andrew emphasized the unusual nature of visiting Pizza Express in Woking, stating that his staff had reviewed his diary and could corroborate his account. He explained that his daughters typically spent time with one parent at a time according to a family rule and said the mother of his children, Sarah Ferguson, was away on that day.

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was stripped of his prince title and HRH style in 2025. He currently resides at the Sandringham estate in Norfolk after leaving Royal Lodge in Windsor earlier this year.

Virginia Giuffre died in April 2025 at her home in Perth, Australia. Following her death, her family stated she had taken her own life after enduring lifelong abuse and sex trafficking. Andrew has consistently denied all allegations against him and has declined to provide further comment.
