Two Scottish airports experienced flight delays on Sunday evening due to disruptions in the delivery of jet fuel. The affected airports, Edinburgh and Glasgow, reported delays primarily caused by a shortage of drivers for fuel delivery lorries, rather than issues linked to the global fuel market.
At Edinburgh Airport, approximately 10 flights were delayed as a result of the supply interruptions. A spokesperson confirmed that fuel deliveries had resumed by Monday, allowing operations to return to normal by the afternoon.
Similarly, Glasgow Airport faced a short-term staffing challenge affecting one of its fuel suppliers. Despite this, the airport maintained full operational status, and the spokesperson noted that no flight cancellations occurred related to the fuel shortage.
Both airports emphasized that the staffing shortages were temporary and localized to fuel transportation logistics rather than broader industry-wide shortages. By Monday afternoon, normal fueling and flight schedules had been restored.
