Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani attended the graduation ceremony of the 2026 class of the Shafallah Center for Persons with Disabilities on Tuesday at the center’s headquarters in Doha. During the event, he honored 36 graduates in recognition of their achievements and perseverance.
The ceremony was attended by several ministers, senior officials from the center, faculty members, administrative staff, as well as the families and guardians of the graduates. In a message shared on the X social media platform, the Prime Minister expressed pride in the accomplishments of the graduates and reaffirmed Qatar’s ongoing commitment to supporting and empowering persons with disabilities. He underscored the nation’s dedication to upholding principles of inclusion and equal opportunity, while also commending the center’s staff for their humanitarian efforts.
Fatima Saeed Al Saadi, Executive Director of the Shafallah Center, highlighted the significance of the Prime Minister’s patronage as a reflection of Qatar’s focus on disability inclusion and empowerment. She described the graduation as both a national and humanitarian milestone that aligns with the country’s broader objectives under Qatar National Vision 2030. According to Al Saadi, this event marks the beginning of a new phase for the graduates, characterized by greater independence and active participation in professional and social spheres.
Established in 1999 as part of the Qatar Foundation for Social Work, the Shafallah Center specializes in educational and rehabilitation services for individuals with intellectual disabilities and autism spectrum disorder. The center’s programs aim to enhance the capabilities of its members and increase their opportunities for education, employment, and community involvement. Al Saadi noted that the center works closely with public and private sector partners to prepare graduates for integration into the labor market and society at large.
The center offers a comprehensive suite of services, including academic qualifications, vocational training, and activities in sports and the arts, all focused on developing personal and life skills necessary for independence. Furthermore, its efforts are supported by Law No. 22 of 2025 concerning persons with disabilities, which promotes inclusion, equality, and active participation across Qatari society.
Through these initiatives, the Shafallah Center contributes to Qatar’s national strategy to empower persons with disabilities by fostering their development and ensuring equal opportunities in various aspects of life.
