On the first anniversary of the Pahalgam terror attack, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reaffirmed India’s resolve against terrorism, emphasizing that the country will never succumb to violent threats. The attack, carried out by the Pakistan-based militant group Lashkar-e-Taiba on April 23 last year, resulted in the deaths of 26 people, predominantly tourists visiting the region of Jammu and Kashmir.

Marking the somber occasion, Modi paid tribute to the victims, describing them as innocent lives taken in a heinous act. In a statement posted on the social media platform X, he expressed his condolences to the families of those killed and acknowledged the ongoing pain experienced by those left behind.

“As a nation, we stand united in grief and resolve. India will never bow to any form of terror. The heinous designs of terrorists will never succeed,” Modi asserted in his message.

In response to the attack, India initiated a military operation dubbed Operation Sindoor, targeting terrorist networks and infrastructure within Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Indian armed forces conducted strikes against facilities linked to terror activities, intensifying efforts to dismantle militant capabilities following the Pahalgam incident.

The attack and subsequent military response have underscored the continuing tensions between India and Pakistan, especially concerning the ongoing insurgency and militancy in Jammu and Kashmir. Security analysts have noted that Lashkar-e-Taiba remains a persistent threat in the region, with cross-border militancy fueling instability.
