Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani, conducted a series of phone calls with regional and international counterparts on June 22, reaffirming Doha’s support for the ongoing United States-Iran negotiations following a recently signed memorandum of understanding between the two countries.
Throughout these discussions, Sheikh Mohammed emphasized Qatar’s role as a regional mediator, advocating for continued dialogue and diplomatic solutions to address unresolved issues between Washington and Tehran. The calls reflected Qatar’s commitment to fostering security and stability in the Middle East through peaceful means.
Among the key conversations, Sheikh Mohammed spoke with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. The two reviewed bilateral cooperation and explored avenues to strengthen ties, while also addressing regional developments and the diplomatic initiatives linked to the US-Iran understanding.
In a separate call, the Qatari prime minister engaged with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty. The discussion focused on enhancing bilateral relations and exchanging perspectives on current regional matters. During this conversation, Abdelatty extended condolences to Qatar and the families affected by a recent internal explosion at a factory in Ras Laffan Industrial City, also wishing a swift recovery for those injured.
Sheikh Mohammed also held talks with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah al-Saud. The officials evaluated cooperation between the two nations and shared views on the evolving regional landscape, with particular attention to diplomatic efforts aimed at strengthening security and stability across the Gulf.
Further discussions were held with Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed al-Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and National Security Adviser of the United Arab Emirates. They reviewed bilateral collaboration and the regional situation in light of the US-Iran memorandum.
The outreach included a call to Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber al-Ahmad al-Sabah, focusing on bilateral ties and broader regional issues.
In addition to these bilateral talks, Sheikh Mohammed participated in a joint call with Lebanese and US officials to discuss ongoing regional developments and coordinated efforts to enhance security and stability.
Throughout the conversations, the Qatari prime minister reiterated his country’s comprehensive support for the ongoing US-Iran negotiations, underlining the importance of dialogue to achieve sustainable solutions. He stressed that resolving outstanding issues through peaceful engagement would contribute to regional security, open new opportunities for cooperation and development, and serve the shared interests of peoples in the Middle East and beyond.
