Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani, engaged in multiple telephone discussions with regional and international leaders to review bilateral ties and ongoing efforts to mediate tensions between the United States and Iran. The talks, held in late May, focused on Pakistan-led mediation initiatives aimed at de-escalating the crisis in the Gulf region and promoting broader stability.

During these calls, Sheikh Mohammed emphasized the importance of constructive engagement by all parties involved in the mediation process. He underlined that dialogue and peaceful negotiations were essential to resolving the underlying issues fueling the conflict, with the goal of reaching a sustainable agreement that would prevent further escalation.

In a call with Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah al-Saud, the two officials reviewed the current status of bilateral relations and explored ways to coordinate their support for the mediation efforts. Similarly, Sheikh Mohammed discussed with Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed al-Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and UAE National Security Adviser, the necessity of backing ongoing dialogue initiatives to achieve a durable peace agreement.

The Prime Minister also spoke with Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed al-Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the UAE, focusing on strengthening cooperation between Qatar and the UAE. Enhancing bilateral ties and collaborative support for regional stability were key themes in their discussion.

Additionally, Sheikh Mohammed held talks with Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation and Expatriates, Badr Abdelatty. The two exchanged views on expanding bilateral cooperation and reinforcing mutual efforts to contribute to regional peace and security.

These conversations reflect Qatar’s active diplomatic engagement aimed at facilitating conflict resolution in the Gulf region, with a central emphasis on supporting Pakistan’s role as a mediator between the US and Iran. The focus on dialogue and cooperation among Gulf nations underscores a shared interest in de-escalation and the avoidance of broader confrontation.
