Migrants once again crossed the English Channel to reach the United Kingdom on Wednesday, marking the second consecutive day of arrivals following a brief pause in crossings. The resumption of crossings has been attributed to warm weather and calm sea conditions.

Photos from Dover showed men and women wearing life jackets being brought ashore at the port. On Wednesday morning, UK authorities, including Border Force vessels, a UK Coastguard aircraft, and the Royal National Lifeboat Institution’s Dungeness lifeboat, responded to multiple small boat activities in the Channel.

A total of 172 individuals arrived in the UK aboard three boats, ending an 11-day lull caused by strong winds that had temporarily halted such crossings. Since the start of this year, the Home Office has recorded 12,641 arrivals by sea, contributing to a cumulative total exceeding 77,000 migrants who have crossed during the premiership of Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer.

Despite the renewed activity, Prime Minister Andy Burnham has not publicly addressed the situation since assuming office. Authorities continue to monitor and manage the ongoing crossings amid concerns over migrant safety and border security.
