Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has taken responsibility for the medical treatment of three-year-old Abu Bakkar, a child from Nandigram upazila in Bogura district born with a congenital eye condition. Abu Bakkar has already undergone three surgeries, and doctors have indicated that two additional operations may potentially restore his eyesight.

The child resides in Sidel village under Burail Union, and his father works as a daily-wage agricultural laborer. With a family of four to support on a limited income, the father has struggled to afford the costs associated with Abu Bakkar’s ongoing medical care. A social media appeal for financial help went viral, drawing widespread attention to the boy’s situation.

Following the viral appeal, Prime Minister Rahman directed his Additional Press Secretary, Atikur Rahman Rumon, to oversee arrangements for the child’s treatment. Rumon, who also serves as convener of ‘Amra BNP Paribar,’ has been actively supervising the case. He works alongside Muksedul Momin Mithun, the Member Secretary of the organization; Kalam Azad, the BNP Media Cell coordinator for Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions; and Md Rasheduzzaman Piyas, the BNP representative in Bogura.

This team has been monitoring the progress of Abu Bakkar’s medical care and coordinating the necessary local efforts. Prime Minister Rahman’s involvement highlights a commitment to providing support for the child’s health needs despite the family’s financial constraints.
