Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani engaged in separate telephone conversations on July 11 with key regional counterparts to discuss measures aimed at reducing tensions in the Middle East.

Sheikh Mohammed spoke with UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed al-Nahyan, as well as Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi. In both discussions, the Qatari prime minister emphasized the necessity for all parties to prioritize dialogue and diplomatic channels.

He highlighted the importance of adhering to the terms of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the United States and Iran, particularly those provisions that ensure the freedom of navigation in the strategically significant Strait of Hormuz. Such measures, he noted, are essential for maintaining regional security, preserving recent diplomatic gains, and fostering broader stability across the Middle East.

During the call with Sheikh Abdullah, the two officials focused on expanding bilateral cooperation between Qatar and the UAE. They also exchanged views on current regional developments, emphasizing the need for continued joint diplomatic efforts and coordination to ease regional tensions.

In the conversation with Ayman Safadi, Sheikh Mohammed reviewed cooperation between Qatar and Jordan and explored opportunities to further strengthen ties. The dialogue similarly addressed ongoing regional challenges, with a shared commitment to diplomatic initiatives designed to reduce conflict and promote peace.

Qatar reiterated its full support for all initiatives aimed at de-escalation and the pursuit of a comprehensive agreement that could deliver lasting peace in the region. The calls reflect a coordinated approach among Gulf Cooperation Council states and neighboring countries seeking to stabilize the Middle East amid ongoing geopolitical pressures and uncertainties.
