Kuwaiti authorities arrested a suspect in connection with the killing of a security guard at a construction site in Mutlaa, less than 24 hours after the incident was reported, the Ministry of Interior said on Saturday. The victim’s body was found Friday morning on the roof of a building under construction, prompting an immediate response by specialist teams who secured the scene and collected forensic evidence.

Investigations led by the General Department of Criminal Investigation, through the Jahra Criminal Investigation Department and in coordination with the Public Security Sector, identified a former security guard at the site as the primary suspect. The individual had been dismissed from his position a day prior to the discovery of the body. According to the ministry, the suspect voluntarily surrendered at Sharq Police Station due to an outstanding arrest warrant related to an expired residency permit, with the intention of being deported before being implicated in the homicide.

During questioning, the suspect reportedly confessed to the killing, describing a confrontation with the victim, who had replaced him at the construction site. The suspect admitted to using a wooden object and a knife in the attack. Legal proceedings are underway to refer the suspect to the appropriate authorities.

Separately, the Ministry of Interior also announced the arrest of five individuals in connection with drug trafficking and consumption in four separate cases. The General Department for Drug Control conducted the operations as part of ongoing efforts to curb narcotic-related offenses.

The raids resulted in the seizure of approximately 4,000 capsules and four kilograms in powder form of Lyrica, alongside 170 grams of methamphetamine, commonly known locally as shabu. Additional confiscated items included 15 sheets and one gram of a narcotic referred to as chemical, five grams of hashish, one gram of cocaine, and four precision scales. The suspects and all seized materials have been handed over to the relevant legal authorities for further action.
