Gwent Police have dismissed an officer who sent a sexually explicit image of himself in uniform to a member of the public. PC Sean Llewellyn, 37, reportedly sent the inappropriate photograph using a false name multiple times in 2021. Following an internal investigation, he was found to have breached professional standards.

The disciplinary process spanned several years, with authorities noting the length of time before the case reached a hearing. Superintendent Sam Payne acknowledged that investigations can occasionally take longer than desired to move to the hearing stage.

Llewellyn resigned just two days before his scheduled disciplinary hearing last week. Despite his absence, the panel formally dismissed him and imposed a prohibition on his future employment within any police force. The force has not disclosed further details regarding the identity of the recipient or the specific circumstances surrounding the incident.
