Greater Manchester Police are investigating after suspected human remains were discovered near a motorway bridge on the M67 in Hyde. The discovery was reported late Monday evening at around 11 p.m. on a bridge located between junctions three and four.

Following the call, officers closed the motorway in both directions to allow forensic teams to carry out their work at the scene. By Tuesday morning, authorities had reopened the westbound carriageway, but the eastbound side remained closed as investigations continued.

Police confirmed that specialist units are involved in examining the circumstances surrounding the find. Meanwhile, the Highways Agency has stated that the eastbound closure will remain in effect while inquiries proceed and has put diversions in place for affected motorists.
