Scotland’s police oversight body is conducting an investigation into Police Scotland’s interactions with a woman prior to her death in Edinburgh.

Vikki Soloman, 44, was found with severe injuries at her residence on July 20 and was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities believe she was murdered by her former partner, 46-year-old Lee Greenan, who was subsequently arrested. Greenan was later found dead in his cell at HMP Edinburgh on Sunday.

The Police Investigations and Review Commissioner (Pirc) confirmed the inquiry into the police contact surrounding the case. Raymond Brown, head of investigations at Pirc, expressed condolences to those affected and noted that the investigation will examine the nature of police involvement before Soloman’s death. Findings will be submitted to the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service.

A family statement released following the incident conveyed gratitude for the widespread support they have received during this difficult time. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities seek to clarify the circumstances leading up to the tragic event.
