The Qatar Police Sports Federation and the Qatar Sports for All Federation (QSAF), operating under the Ministry of Sports and Youth, have announced details for the upcoming Elite Race set to take place on October 22 in Zekreet. The announcement was made during a press conference held at the Police Institute.
Major Mohammed Saleh al-Haoul, assistant general supervisor of the race, affirmed that all preparations and organizational committees were in place. He emphasized that the event aims to promote community engagement in sports, enhance discipline and perseverance, and encourage healthy and active lifestyles. Major al-Haoul also called on participants to adhere to the instructions issued by organizers and to obtain official information regarding race schedules, gathering points, and routes to ensure the safety of all attendees.
Participants are scheduled to convene at 4:30 a.m., with registration verification commencing at 5 a.m. The race will begin promptly at 5:30 a.m., with both the starting and finishing points located at the designated Race Village.
Abdullah al-Dosari, executive director of QSAF, described the event as an example of effective institutional collaboration aimed at boosting physical activity and overall quality of life. He noted that such sporting events foster confidence and discipline among participants and highlighted the role of the media in increasing public awareness of these initiatives.
Captain Sultan Mutlaq al-Dosari, representing the Qatar Police Sports Federation, underscored the importance of safety as a collective responsibility. He urged all participants to follow the designated routes and schedules and to promptly report any emergencies or injuries to organizers.
The race, as outlined by First Lieutenant Khalid Mohammed al-Amri, head of the event’s technical committee, consists of five stages accessible to security and military personnel—including officers and enlisted members—as well as civilians. These stages include a 1,500-meter swim, a 10-kilometer run, a 40-kilometer off-road cycling segment, five shooting rounds, and a final 10-kilometer run.
Eligibility to participate requires meeting specific health and fitness standards, along with completing official registration procedures. Competitors’ final results will be based on their total elapsed time across all stages. Participants may face penalties or disqualification for rule violations.
