Approximately 400 supporters of the campaign group Palestine Action are expected to face arrest by the Metropolitan Police during a demonstration scheduled outside the United States embassy in London. The protest is set to take place today and has been organized by Defend Our Juries, a group encouraging participants to display signs stating, “I oppose genocide, I support Palestine Action.”
Palestine Action was proscribed under the Terrorism Act in June 2025, rendering public expressions of support for the group a criminal offense. Authorities have warned that involvement with the banned organization could result in arrest.
The Metropolitan Police have emphasized that demonstrations associated with Palestine Action require extensive deployment of policing resources, potentially diverting officers from other community priorities. Recent figures obtained through a freedom of information request indicate that the Met spent £1.3 million on policing six public order events related to the Palestine-Israel conflict between June and July 2026.
Scotland Yard’s statement highlighted concerns about the strain that protests linked to Palestine Action place on local neighborhoods and communities in London. The police force has reiterated its commitment to maintaining public order while managing the delicate balance between lawful protest and enforcement of counterterrorism legislation.
