Political parties in Kalikot have intensified their local-level election campaigns as preparations for the upcoming polls gain momentum. The ruling Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and the opposition Communist Party of Nepal–Unified Marxist Leninist (CPN-UML) are both actively engaging voters through separate grassroots initiatives.
The RSP has launched a campaign titled "Hami Aaudaichhau" (We Are Coming), which involves visits by central party figures, including members of the House of Representatives, to various communities throughout the district. According to RSP leader Gauragharti Magar, the campaign is being conducted across all local levels in Kalikot with the dual purpose of communicating the government’s achievements and collecting community feedback.
Gharti outlined that the initiative aims to inform the public about the work of the current government, which was formed without the involvement of traditional political parties. The campaign also seeks to assess public opinion regarding the government’s performance, gather suggestions on local needs and potential candidates for the forthcoming elections, and explain the RSP’s policies and programs.
Meanwhile, the CPN-UML, which has been operating as an opposition party since its defeat in the 2026 House of Representatives election, has also stepped up its outreach efforts. The party is conducting village-level programs under its "Jagaran Abhiyan" (Awareness Campaign) to reconnect with voters and rebuild its support base in the district.
Both parties are focusing on bolstering their presence at the local level as election day approaches, with a clear emphasis on direct voter engagement and response collection to inform their strategies ahead of the polls.
