The centenary of the publication of A.A. Milne’s "Winnie-the-Pooh" was commemorated at Buckingham Palace yesterday with a special musical performance by the Band of the Welsh Guards. The tribute took place during the Changing of the Guard ceremony, marking 100 years since the beloved children’s book first appeared in print.
Winnie-the-Pooh was initially introduced to readers in a short story published in the London Evening News on Christmas Eve in 1925. This story was later included as the opening chapter of Milne’s book, which was officially released on October 14, 1926.
The special musical programme paid homage to the enduring legacy of the character and Milne’s contribution to children’s literature. The event at Buckingham Palace drew attention to the lasting popularity of the classic tale, which has remained a cultural touchstone for generations since its debut.
