A recent survey of British motorists has identified several classic and contemporary songs as favorites for driving playlists, with Miley Cyrus and Rihanna among the artists whose tracks ranked in the top ten. The poll, conducted by Isuzu UK and involving 2,000 drivers, placed the Eagles’ 1977 hit "Hotel California" as the most popular driving song, followed by Bruce Springsteen’s 1984 anthem "Born in the U.S.A."
Miley Cyrus’s 2023 single "Flowers" secured third place as the most recent entry on the list, while other iconic tracks filled out the top five, including Don Henley’s "The Boys of Summer" (1984) and Bon Jovi’s "Livin’ On a Prayer" (1986). The survey also highlighted Fleetwood Mac’s 1977 hit "Go Your Own Way" in sixth position, and Phil Collins’s 1981 song "In The Air Tonight" came seventh.
The remaining top ten included AC/DC’s "Highway to Hell" from 1979 at eighth place, Harry Styles’s 2019 track "Watermelon Sugar" at ninth, and Rihanna’s 2007 song "Shut Up And Drive" rounding out the list at tenth. Despite the title’s directive, the survey found that about 40 percent of drivers enjoy singing along enthusiastically to Rihanna’s track, with one in three respondents admitting to startling their passengers with their vocal enthusiasm.
In other music news, Miley Cyrus’s latest album, "Bass Persuades," experienced a sharp decline after its initial success. Although it debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 following its release last month, recent reports show the album has dropped to 157th place—a fall described as one of the largest downward movements from the top spot by a solo artist in the chart’s history. The album’s title track also did not break into the top 30 in the UK singles chart. Meanwhile, Cyrus is scheduled to perform two shows at the Hollywood Bowl later this month.
