Leo Sayer, the British pop singer known for his string of hits in the 1970s, has announced plans for his final full-scale UK tour, set to begin on October 7. The tour, named Can’t Stop Loving You, will mark the conclusion of decades of extensive touring, although the 78-year-old performer has indicated he does not intend to retire from performing entirely.

Sayer’s career has spanned more than half a century, during which he has become one of the UK’s most successful pop stars. He first came to prominence in the early 1970s with songs such as "The Show Must Go On," "You Make Me Feel Like Dancing," and "When I Need You." His work blends elements of soft rock, disco, and soul, earning him a dedicated fan base. Throughout his career, he has achieved six UK top 10 albums, including a No. 1 compilation, *The Very Best Of Leo Sayer* in 1979. In 2006, Sayer returned to the top of the charts when DJ Meck remixed his 1977 single "Thunder in My Heart" as "Thunder in My Heart Again."

Currently based in Australia with his partner Donatella, Sayer has recently released a new career-spanning box set titled *Leothology*. Despite his plans to wind down large-scale touring, he remains committed to performing where possible. Reflecting on a recent concert at Sydney’s State Theatre in April, he described the experience as "exhausting" but noted that he and the audience extended the show with additional songs. However, he suggested that future performances in England would likely be shorter to maintain his energy.

Sayer acknowledged that although some legendary contemporaries—such as Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger, and Bob Dylan, all in their 80s—continue to draw sold-out crowds worldwide, he is mindful of his own limits. He likened performing to a magician perfecting a trick, expressing a desire to continue as long as he can do justice to his craft.

Having considered earlier in his career that a decade as a performer would have been fulfilling, Sayer now looks forward to continuing his musical journey, humorously suggesting he will be “dragged kicking and screaming” off the stage when the time comes. The Can’t Stop Loving You tour will offer fans a final opportunity to experience the energy and charisma that have defined Leo Sayer’s enduring presence in popular music.
