Iranian pop singer and composer Mohsen Chavoshi has released a new single titled “Sun-Wounded” in observance of the mourning month of Muharram and the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS). The track, featuring lyrics by Omid Roozbeh and composed and performed by Chavoshi, was unveiled on Tuesday evening, coinciding with the eve of Tasua, an important day in the Islamic calendar.
The single serves as a tribute to Imam Hussein (AS) and his loyal companions, reflecting a continued tradition in Chavoshi’s work of engaging with themes related to Ashura and the tragedy of Karbala. The production involved contributions from Reza Foadian as arranger, Mehdi Karimi handling mixing and mastering, and artwork by Hamed Talkhabi.
Chavoshi is recognized as a prominent figure in Iranian pop music and has previously incorporated religious and revolutionary themes into his music. Earlier this year, during the closing ceremony of the 12th Islamic Revolution Art Week, he was honored with the title of Islamic Revolution Artist of the Year for 1404 (2025-2026). This recognition followed the success of his tracks “Alaj” and “Hasbi Allah,” which gained significant attention amid heightened tensions linked to the ongoing US-Israeli conflict impacting Iran.
Through “Sun-Wounded,” Chavoshi continues to blend contemporary music with significant cultural and religious observances, reinforcing his role in the intersection of popular art and spiritual expression in Iran.
