Porsche has clarified that it does not intend to reduce its workforce further at its Volkswagen sports car division. In an internal communication to employees, CEO Michael Leiters emphasized that the board has already approved a restructuring plan that excludes additional layoffs, and he does not foresee any changes to this approach.
This statement followed earlier reports indicating that 4,000 more jobs at the subsidiary could be eliminated, in addition to the 9,000 positions previously earmarked for cuts. Porsche’s leadership has sought to reassure staff that these additional reductions are not under consideration, aiming to address concerns raised by the earlier news.
The confirmation from Porsche comes amid ongoing efforts within the automotive sector to adapt to shifting market demands and evolving industry dynamics. While job reductions have been a common strategy for automakers to streamline operations, Leiters’ message suggests a temporary pause in further workforce downsizing at the Volkswagen sports car unit.
