The Klang Royal City Council (MBDK) and the Selangor Department of Environment (DOE) conducted joint inspections on the affected drain and nearby factory premises. The investigations identified a factory processing plastic scrap as the source of the discharge. Officials found that the neon green liquid originated from plastic scrap washing activities at the facility, and noted that the factory’s wastewater treatment system was only partially operational.

Drones were deployed to track the extent of the effluent spread in the drainage system. During the operation, the Selangor DOE halted the use of the plastic scrap washing machine and collected water samples to support further regulatory action.

MBDK’s Licensing Department issued four compounds totaling RM4,000 related to violations at the plastic scrap factory. These included two fines for effluent runoff into drains, one for maintaining dirty premises, and another for operating an unlicensed hostel for workers. The council also issued a notice of intent to revoke the factory’s trade license.

In addition to the plastic scrap factory, MBDK’s licensing and enforcement teams conducted inspections of several other industrial lots in a three-hour operation. Of the 14 other factories examined, many lacked operating licenses, while others did not have proper permits for advertisement boards. Additional violations included the improper placement of industrial materials in public areas outside factory entrances. These 14 factories were collectively fined RM14,000.

The Selangor Water Management Authority (LUAS) participated in the inspections and collected water samples for further analysis by the Chemistry Department to identify specific pollutants.

Authorities are continuing their efforts to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and occupational licensing requirements within the industrial zone to prevent further pollution incidents.
