A high-level delegation from Myanmar, headed by President U Min Aung Hlaing, departed Nay Pyi Taw on the morning of May 30 for an official visit to India. The trip was undertaken at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, according to Myanmar government sources.
The President’s departure ceremony at Nay Pyi Taw Airport included the presence of key government and military officials. Among those bidding farewell were Vice-Presidents U Nyo Saw and Nan Ni Ni Aye, Speaker of the Amyotha Hluttaw U Aung Lin Dwe, Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services General Ye Win Oo, several union ministers, the chairman of the Nay Pyi Taw Council, and the commander of the Nay Pyi Taw Command. Representatives from the Indian Embassy and the Defence Attachés Office to Myanmar also attended the send-off.
President U Min Aung Hlaing’s delegation includes Union Ministers U Khin Maung Yi, U Tin Maung Swe, Dr. Kan Zaw, U Min Naung, and Dr. Charlie Than, as well as Dr. Khin Naing Oo, governor of the Central Bank of Myanmar. Senior officials from the Tatmadaw’s Office of the Commander-in-Chief, as well as deputy ministers and other government staff, are accompanying the President.
Details regarding the agenda of the official visit have not been disclosed, but it is expected that discussions will focus on strengthening bilateral relations, economic cooperation, and regional security matters. The visit marks a continuation of diplomatic engagement between Myanmar and India amid ongoing regional developments.
