Qatar's Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, attended the opening of the ninth World Investment Forum (WIF) on Sunday. The event, held in Doha, brought together over 5,000 participants from around the globe to explore investment prospects, address economic challenges, and enhance international collaboration.
The three-day forum, hosted by Qatar in partnership with the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), operates under the theme "Investing in the Future." It serves as a significant platform where policymakers, investors, business leaders, and other stakeholders convene to discuss strategies for directing capital to sectors and regions with critical development needs.
The gathering includes a diverse group of attendees, such as heads of state and government, ministers, chief executives, sovereign wealth fund leaders, representatives from international organizations, entrepreneurs, academics, and experts. The event also features more than 400 speakers and has attracted over 200 international journalists.
This year’s WIF takes place amid a volatile global environment marked by geopolitical tensions, economic uncertainty, disruptions in supply chains, and heightened competition for investment capital. Against this backdrop, participants are focused on identifying ways to mobilize investment for sustainable development, bolster investor confidence, and expand global partnerships.
In a statement shared on his social media platform X, Sheikh Mohammed highlighted the importance of international forums in fostering cooperation amid current regional and global developments. He expressed hope that the World Investment Forum in Doha would contribute to shaping visions and solutions that support the future of investment and the broader global economy.
