Kuwait Gulf Oil Company (KGOC) has reported notable advancements in its oil and gas operations, with significant developments in production, infrastructure, and drilling activities across key projects in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.
The Khafji oil field has reached a sustainable daily production level of 4,190 barrels of natural gas liquids. This milestone reflects ongoing efforts to enhance the extraction and processing efficiency of hydrocarbon resources. To support continuous production, KGOC recently completed drilling two wastewater disposal wells, which are expected to facilitate smoother operational flow. Furthermore, the company commenced installation of a second crude oil pipeline, aimed at improving transportation efficiency, sustaining production output, and bolstering overall operational performance.
Progress has also been made in pipeline connectivity, with the completion of the first phase of a new gas pipeline connecting Khafji to the Mina Al-Ahmadi Refinery. This strategic project seeks to increase production capacity and optimize the utilization of gas resources within the region.
Enhancements in the power infrastructure were installed to ensure stable operations. The Khafji power generation plant has been commissioned, and a power transformer was activated as part of coordination efforts with the Saudi Electricity Company’s energy initiatives. These upgrades are intended to provide a reliable electricity supply for ongoing production activities.
At the Wafra Joint Operations, Kuwait’s share of daily crude oil production averaged 77,520 barrels, indicating steady operational performance and a commitment to maximizing oil recovery. The company completed drilling 51 new wells, including advanced horizontal and lateral wells, which contribute to increased production capacity.
As part of its strategy to develop challenging reservoirs, five wells were drilled under the low-porosity carbonate development program, targeting the Wara and Ratawi limestone formations. This initiative employs sophisticated technologies to enhance oil recovery from reservoirs with low permeability. Additionally, KGOC reached an agreement with its partner to finalize drilling locations for wells targeting the Eocene-1 reservoir within the Cyclic Steam Stimulation (CSS) project. The CSS project focuses on improving recovery rates from heavy oil reservoirs to support long-term production growth and operational efficiency.
Together, these efforts demonstrate KGOC’s ongoing commitment to sustaining production levels, expanding infrastructure, and applying advanced techniques to optimize hydrocarbon recovery in joint Kuwaiti-Saudi oil and gas operations.
