The 22nd edition of Project Qatar 2026 opened on Monday at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center (DECC), showcasing the latest advancements in construction, building, and infrastructure sectors. The event, which runs through June 11, was inaugurated by HE Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal Al Thani, Minister of Commerce and Industry, who emphasized the exhibition’s role in supporting Qatar’s ongoing economic diversification and sustainable growth efforts.

Held under the theme “Manufacture, Build, Innovate” and patronized by Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Project Qatar 2026 gathered 145 companies, including 120 local firms and 25 international exhibitors. These participants represent a broad spectrum of sectors encompassing construction materials, industrial technologies, engineering services, energy, smart city solutions, and sustainable infrastructure.

Following the inauguration, Sheikh Faisal toured the exhibition halls to review the latest products, innovative technologies, and solutions presented by both domestic and international entities. The minister highlighted the exhibition as a key platform that fosters partnerships, facilitates expertise exchange, and opens avenues for investment, thereby bolstering the goals set out in Qatar National Vision 2030.

Among the attendees were prominent figures such as Eng Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al Meer, president of the Public Works Authority (Ashghal), along with senior government officials and diplomatic representatives. Ashghal’s participation as a strategic partner underscores its commitment to advancing infrastructure development and promoting sustainable construction practices. Eng. Khalid Al Najjar, director of Ashghal’s technical office, noted the event’s importance in enhancing collaboration with contractors and suppliers and in introducing innovative digital applications to improve project delivery.

The exhibition features a variety of initiatives including the Excellence in Industry & Innovation Awards, conducted in partnership with the Gulf Organisation for Research and Development (GORD), as well as a Startup Stage aimed at supporting entrepreneurs and small to medium-sized enterprises by connecting them with investors and industry leaders.

Industry stakeholders view Project Qatar as a significant rallying point for the sector. Hayat Bayan, Commercial and Operations Director of IFP Qatar, emphasized that the strong showing of international participants reflects global confidence in Qatar’s construction market and its long-term growth trajectory. She pointed to the dedicated B2B Matchmaking Platform as a tool that facilitates targeted networking and the forging of lasting business partnerships.

Market data presented at the event highlighted robust activity levels, with planned and ongoing projects in Qatar valued at $251.6 billion for 2025, marking an increase of $14.3 billion from 2024. Qatar also leads worldwide in construction output per capita, registering $18,433 per person.

Abdulaziz Ibrahim Al-Tamimi, CEO of Qatar Primary Materials Company (QPMC), underlined the importance of securing a consistent supply of raw materials and logistics for national projects, alongside initiatives that promote sustainability such as construction waste recycling.

Ali Bu Sherbak Al Mansouri, Acting General Manager of Qatar Chamber, described the exhibition as an ideal venue for fostering collaboration between local and international companies and advancing knowledge transfer within the industry. Overall, Project Qatar 2026 continues to serve as a crucial forum for showcasing innovations and strengthening Qatar’s position as a regional hub for construction and infrastructure development.
