Auckland Council has announced its intention to grant a new community ground lease to the Blockhouse Bay Tennis Club Incorporated for part of the Blockhouse Bay Recreation Reserve, located at 31-35 Terry Street, Blockhouse Bay, Auckland. The lease proposal covers an area of approximately 6,425.5 square meters and is being processed under the Local Government Act 2002.

The Blockhouse Bay Tennis Club, formerly known as Blockhouse Bay Lawn Tennis Club Incorporated, currently operates from the site, which features a purpose-built clubhouse and ten tennis courts. The land, legally described as Lot 1 Deposited Plan 84147 and recorded under RT NA40B/1085, is owned by Auckland Council in fee simple.

The proposed lease agreement would enable the club to continue its activities at the site for an initial term of 10 years, with an option to renew for an additional 10 years. This arrangement aligns with Auckland Council’s Community Occupancy Guidelines, last updated in June 2023.

Members of the public interested in providing feedback or seeking further information are invited to submit comments or objections by 5.00pm on Tuesday, October 27, 2026. Submitters may also indicate if they wish to present their views to the local board.
