Zach Root, a left-handed pitcher and one of the Los Angeles Dodgers’ promising prospects, has continued to impress in the minor leagues during the 2026 season. Selected as the 40th overall pick in last year’s draft, Root began the year with the High-A Great Lakes Loons and has recently earned a promotion to the Double-A Tulsa Drillers.

The 22-year-old University of Arkansas product posted strong numbers in High-A, compiling a 3-3 record with a 2.40 earned run average over 60 innings pitched. Root demonstrated an ability to overpower hitters, striking out 79 batters while allowing just one home run and holding opposing hitters to a batting average below .200. His performance solidified his standing as one of the top 10 prospects within the Dodgers’ farm system.

Root’s pitching repertoire has drawn attention, particularly his effective changeup and curveball, which have been instrumental in his success at the minor league level.
