PTT Synergy Group Bhd and Koperasi Kakitangan Bank Rakyat Bhd (Sekatarakyat) have started construction on the Sekata E-Logistics Park in Pontian, Johor. The development, announced in a joint statement on Friday, will feature five single-storey industrial warehouse units designed to serve businesses operating in both the local Malaysian market and nearby Singapore.
The project follows agreements signed in August 2026 and is situated within the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ), a framework established by Malaysia and Singapore in January 2025 to enhance cross-border economic collaboration. This location aligns with broader efforts to strengthen industrial growth and logistics connectivity in southern Johor.
Datuk Abdul Rahim Jaafar, executive chairman of PTT Synergy, noted that southern Johor is strategically positioned to support companies catering to Singapore’s demand, particularly in areas requiring streamlined inventory management and cross-border logistics. He emphasized that by situating inventory closer to consumers, businesses can react more swiftly to market fluctuations and improve overall supply chain efficiency. He described the groundbreaking as a significant investment commitment to bolster economic activities in Pontian.
Sekatarakyat chairman Datuk Mustafha Abd Razak highlighted the development’s potential to generate new business opportunities and employment within the region, while contributing to the economic vitality of Pontian and neighboring communities. He pointed to Pontian’s advantageous location in southern Johor as a pivotal factor allowing it to expand its industrial and logistics roles amid growing regional activity.
Sustainability features have been incorporated into the project design, including rainwater harvesting systems and electric vehicle charging stations. The collaboration leverages PTT Synergy’s expertise in earthworks, infrastructure development, and warehouse solutions alongside Sekatarakyat’s long-term investment strategy.
The Sekata E-Logistics Park is intended to further develop southern Johor’s industrial and logistics infrastructure, creating a platform for businesses to deepen their participation in the evolving Malaysia-Singapore supply chain network.
