Rebecca Bullock, a 31-year-old British pub landlady, was fatally stabbed at a railway station in Rosenheim, Bavaria, shortly before 1 a.m. on Sunday, according to Bavarian police. Bullock, who had travelled to Europe to support a friend at a funeral in Austria, was rushed to hospital but died from severe injuries sustained in the attack.

Police detained a 27-year-old homeless German man at the scene immediately after the incident. He has been charged with murder and subsequently transferred to a secure psychiatric facility. Authorities are currently investigating the motive behind the stabbing.

Bullock was well-regarded in her hometown of Whitchurch, Buckinghamshire, where she managed The White Swan, the village’s only pub. Richard Shuffill, vice-chairman of the local parish council, described her as “a breath of fresh air” who had actively worked to make the pub a community hub since taking over a few years ago. “It was impossible not to like her. She was always pleasant and friendly,” he said, expressing the community’s shock and sadness over her death.

Friends and residents have left floral tributes outside the pub in Bullock’s memory. Kirsty Hawkshaw, a friend, noted that Bullock's journey abroad was to attend a funeral and expressed devastation and anger over the circumstances of her death. On social media, Bullock’s interests included dogs, horses, walking, and charity work; she notably completed the 2022 London Marathon to raise funds for the Spinal Injuries Association.

The British Foreign Office was contacted for comment but had not issued a statement at the time of reporting. The investigation into the incident remains ongoing as authorities seek to clarify what led to the fatal attack.
