KUWAIT CITY — The Public Authority for Disability Affairs (PADA) in Kuwait has announced the procurement of approximately 300 specialized wheelchairs as part of its ongoing efforts to improve services for individuals with disabilities. The contracts for the wheelchairs, which meet specific technical and medical criteria, were awarded following evaluations by specialized committees tasked with matching each beneficiary to the most appropriate wheelchair type.

Dr. Khalifa Al-Hailai, acting Deputy Director General for Medical, Psychological and Social Services at PADA, stated in a press release that the selected suppliers are also responsible for providing maintenance, warranties, and after-sales services. This measure is intended to ensure the quality and longevity of the equipment provided.

Additionally, PADA has implemented a plan aimed at accelerating the supply and delivery process, with increased oversight of contract execution to reduce waiting times and address the backlog of requests for assistive devices.

Dr. Al-Hailai also highlighted that PADA continues to distribute hearing aids on a monthly basis to individuals with hearing impairments who have been assessed by specialized medical committees. These committees conduct thorough examinations to determine the most suitable hearing aid for each recipient based on the degree of disability and personal requirements.

The enhancements in service delivery underline PADA’s commitment to adopting technical and medical standards that improve the accessibility and effectiveness of assistance provided to people with disabilities in Kuwait.
