Prince William County officials will hold a public information meeting on October 7, 2026, to discuss planned improvements to the Route 234 and Sudley Manor Drive interchange. The session will take place from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Freedom Aquatic & Fitness Center in Manassas, Virginia.
The Department of Transportation and Capital Construction (PWC DTCC) is leading the project, which aims to enhance traffic flow and safety in the area surrounding Route 234 near Sudley Manor Drive, Wellington Road, and Bethlehem Road. Key components of the plan include removing traffic signals at the intersections of Route 234 with Sudley Manor Drive and Wellington Road and converting these intersections to right-in, right-out access. This change is intended to allow vehicles on Route 234 to pass through without stopping, thereby reducing congestion.
To facilitate cross traffic, the project will construct a new roadway and bridge over Route 234, creating a grade-separated connection between Sudley Manor Drive and Wellington Road. This feature will enable vehicles to travel between both sides of Route 234 without directly intersecting the highway, improving overall connectivity and traffic safety.
Additional improvements include upgrades to roadways and medians throughout the project area. The plan incorporates expanded pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure such as new sidewalks and shared-use paths, aiming to enhance accessibility and mobility for non-motorized users.
At the meeting, county representatives and design consultants will be available to discuss project details, answer questions, and provide information on right-of-way acquisition and relocation assistance, if applicable.
