This notification is part of the regulatory process overseen under the Canadian Navigable Waters Act, which ensures that proposed works do not interfere with navigation on Canadian waterways.

The project, identified by Common Project Registry Number 15195 and Navigation Protection Program File Number 2026-617161, involves installing geotechnical testing equipment at coordinates 51° 6’ 2.98” N, 114° 16’ 28.2” W along the Bow River. The work is intended to gather soil and subsurface data to support future water infrastructure projects managed by the City of Calgary.

Members of the public and other stakeholders are invited to provide comments regarding the potential effects of the proposed work. Comments must be submitted in writing and received within 30 days of the notice’s publication date of August 18, 2026. Submissions can be made through the Common Project Search online portal by referencing the project registry number, or sent by mail or email to the Navigation Protection Program’s Western and Yukon Region office in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Officials note that comments received are considered public records subject to the Privacy Act and the Access to Information Act. Therefore, respondents are advised not to include confidential or sensitive information in their submissions.
