A man arrested in connection with the 2017 assault on Putney Bridge, known in media reports as the "Putney pusher" case, has told his family that he felt the police investigation was "murdering him," according to relatives. The suspect, identified as Brandram, was detained in June and also questioned on suspicion of possessing class A and class B drugs while in custody.

Although Brandram’s name was not formally released by authorities due to the absence of charges, biographical details reported in the media pointed to him as a wealthy banker living in a £14 million property in west London. He is also a military veteran with notable familial ties, being the grandson of Princess Katherine of Greece, herself a great-granddaughter of Queen Victoria.

Brandram’s family has challenged the police’s case, asserting there is no forensic evidence linking him to the assault on the morning of May 5, 2017. They highlighted physical features — including a prominent military tattoo and a withered calf — that they claim set him apart from the individual captured in surveillance footage of the incident. The family also pointed to an alibi, stating that Brandram had walked from his Notting Hill Gate residence to his Bond Street office that morning and had sent an email from his workplace account, which presumably could only be accessed on-site. This information, they report, was shared with investigators.

The arrest and subsequent scrutiny have attracted attention not only because of the gravity of the original case but also due to Brandram’s aristocratic connections and profile within London’s financial sector. A reporter who was tipped off about the arrest filmed some of the police procedures, adding further public interest to the ongoing matter.

As of now, Brandram has not been formally charged in relation to the Putney Bridge attack, and the investigation is continuing.
