Putrajaya has introduced a new autonomous electric bus service aimed at enhancing public transportation within the city. Launched on Wednesday, the service operates on the P113 route, which follows a circular path beginning and ending at MRT Putrajaya Sentral and includes stops at key government and administrative locations such as the Finance Ministry, Palace of Justice, Youth and Sports Ministry, Dataran Gemilang, and the Putrajaya Corporation Complex.
The service offers eight trips per day, divided evenly between morning and afternoon schedules. Morning departures are set for 7:15 a.m., 8:15 a.m., 9:15 a.m., and 10:15 a.m., while afternoon trips run at 2:45 p.m., 3:45 p.m., 4:45 p.m., and 5:45 p.m. Passengers are charged a one-way fare of RM1, with payment accepted exclusively via Mastercard or Visa debit or credit cards.
The driverless buses are supplied by Malaysian startup eMooVit Technology and operated by the local transit company Handal Indah. eMooVit previously conducted trials of its autonomous vehicles in Putrajaya in 2024, equipping each bus with advanced self-driving technology including LiDAR, radar, and 360-degree cameras to ensure safe and efficient operation.
This initiative reflects Putrajaya’s broader efforts to integrate innovative and sustainable mobility solutions into its public transport network, aiming to improve accessibility while reducing environmental impact through the use of electric vehicles.
