Economic cooperation between Qatar and Algeria is expanding, driven by longstanding bilateral ties and a shared interest in enhancing investment opportunities, according to Omar Rekkache, Director General of the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency (AAPI).

Speaking during the 9th World Investment Forum 2026, Rekkache highlighted the close relationship between the two countries as a foundation for deeper economic engagement. He emphasized that the growing partnership reflects a spirit of fraternity between their peoples and demonstrates a mutual commitment to broadening collaboration.

Among the key examples of this cooperation is Baladna’s powdered milk production project in Algeria, which Rekkache identified as one of the largest and most strategically significant investments between the countries. The project, valued at over $3.5 billion, represents a substantial contribution to Algeria’s agricultural and industrial sectors. Additionally, Baladna is reportedly evaluating a new investment initiative in Algeria, though details remain under development.

These developments signal a strengthening economic relationship aimed at leveraging complementary opportunities and encouraging further investment flows. Both sides appear committed to sustaining this momentum, with prospects for expanded collaboration across various sectors in the coming years.
