Qatar and Guyana have formalized a new agreement to enhance cooperation in the fields of agriculture and technology. On Wednesday, the two countries signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at fostering bilateral collaboration to support sustainable agricultural development and the adoption of modern technological solutions.

The agreement was signed in Doha by Qatar’s Minister of Municipality, HE Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al Attiyah, and Guyana’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hugh Hilton Todd. The MoU outlines the framework for cooperation across various agricultural sectors, including crop production, livestock management, and fisheries. It also emphasizes the exchange of knowledge, training initiatives, and capacity-building programs between the two nations.

A central focus of the memorandum is the incorporation of advanced agricultural technologies, intended to bolster the development of Guyana’s agricultural sector. This includes supporting efforts to strengthen food security and improve the resilience of supply chains. Both countries view the partnership as a means to diversify the sources of food production and enhance their respective agricultural capabilities.

The signing reflects a mutual commitment to expanding cooperation and investment opportunities, particularly in sectors critical to food provision and economic diversification. Qatar and Guyana aim to leverage this agreement to open new channels for collaboration that could benefit their agricultural industries and broader economies.
