Qatar took part in a high-level ministerial dialogue on humanitarian diplomacy and the promotion of international law held on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The event focused on challenges and strategies related to delivering humanitarian aid, especially in regions affected by conflict and natural disasters.

Representing Qatar, Minister of State for International Cooperation Dr. Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser al-Misnad emphasized the country’s firm commitment to upholding international humanitarian law and ensuring the effective delivery of aid to vulnerable populations. She underscored the need for coordinated efforts among international and regional humanitarian organizations to overcome obstacles that hinder access to those in need.

Dr. al-Misnad highlighted Qatar’s ongoing dedication to enhancing humanitarian diplomacy as a means to foster a more inclusive and comprehensive global response. She explained that the country’s foreign policy on these issues is deeply rooted in dialogue and grounded in the principles of international law and the United Nations Charter.

Drawing attention to Qatar’s practical contributions, the minister detailed its mediation and facilitation roles in conflict-affected areas. Through close collaboration with the United Nations and humanitarian agencies, Qatar has worked to establish humanitarian corridors, assist in the release of detainees, and help reunite families separated by conflict, including children.
