Qatar's Ministry of Transport is participating in the 26th Joint Meeting of the Technical Committees of Land, Sea, and Multimodal Transport, which commenced on September 28 at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo. The two-day event brings together representatives and experts from Arab countries, along with regional and international transport organizations and unions.

The agenda focuses on advancing transportation and logistics infrastructure across the Arab region. Key topics include the Arab Agreement to Regulate Passenger Land Transport, which aims to facilitate and standardize passenger land travel between and within Arab states. Another significant proposal under consideration is the adoption of the Arab Union of Land Transport’s electronic portal as the official online platform for sharing land transportation information among Arab countries. This initiative represents a push toward digital transformation and the harmonization of transportation data exchange across the region.

Additionally, the meeting addresses the need to standardize technical specifications, specifically regarding truck dimensions and axle loads for vehicles operating cross-border. The objective is to improve the efficiency and safety of road freight movement, thereby facilitating smoother logistics and transportation operations between member states.

By fostering cooperation on regulatory frameworks and digital integration, the meeting seeks to enhance regional connectivity and support the development of a more streamlined and interoperable transport network across Arab countries.
