The Qatar Central Bank announced on Wednesday a 25 basis point increase in key interest rates as part of its ongoing monetary policy review. The deposit interest rate was raised to 4.10 percent, while the lending rate was increased to 4.60 percent. Additionally, the central bank lifted the repurchase (repo) rate to 4.35 percent.
These adjustments were decided by the Monetary Policy Committee following an evaluation of Qatar’s current economic and financial conditions. The bank indicated that the new rates would take effect starting Thursday.
This move reflects the central bank’s efforts to manage inflationary pressures and ensure financial stability within the Qatari economy amid shifting global economic dynamics. The increase aligns with broader regional trends as several Gulf Cooperation Council countries have adjusted monetary policies in response to evolving economic challenges.
