The Qatar Chamber took part in the fifth Arab-Brazilian Economic Forum held in São Paulo, Brazil, convening government officials, business leaders, and private sector representatives from Arab countries and Brazil to discuss opportunities for economic, trade, and investment cooperation.
Representing Qatar Chamber at the forum was Mohamed bin Ahmed Al Obaidli, a board member and chairman of both the Food Security and Environment Committee and the Technology and Innovation Committee. He contributed to the forum’s second session, titled “Food Security, Agribusiness and Resilience of Fertilizer Supplies,” which focused on challenges and opportunities in agricultural supply chains and global food security.
During the session, Al Obaidli highlighted the complementary strengths of Arab nations and Brazil, noting Brazil's leadership in agricultural and food products and Qatar's expertise in energy and fertilizer production. He described this complementarity as a foundation for long-term investments and cooperation between the two parties.
Al Obaidli also emphasized Qatar’s advanced transportation, storage, and distribution infrastructure, positioning the country as a reliable global logistics hub. He pointed to Qatar’s progress in enhancing food security through increased local production, diversification of import sources, and the development of strategic reserves. Additionally, he noted the growth of foreign investments aimed at expanding national food security projects.
A key focus of Al Obaidli’s remarks was the role of technology and artificial intelligence in advancing agriculture and improving productivity. He stressed that these innovations create opportunities for collaboration between Qatari and Brazilian private sectors in areas such as food production, fertilizers, processing, cold-chain logistics, and agricultural technology solutions.
Al Obaidli reaffirmed Qatar Chamber’s dedication to fostering communication between Qatari and Brazilian business communities and facilitating partnerships and investments that contribute to food security. He suggested that cooperation between the two regions could evolve from traditional trade relationships into strategic partnerships and integrated investments.
The forum, held under the theme “Global Economy in Transformation: New Brazil–Arab Countries Agenda,” served as a platform to address a broad range of topics including global economic changes, energy, food security, agribusiness, logistics, trade, investment, innovation, digital economy, and artificial intelligence. It highlighted Qatar’s emergence as a growing global investment hub as foreign direct investment increasingly targets strategic and high-growth sectors.
