Qatar Charity has inaugurated a comprehensive health centre in Al-Hamra, Mafraq Governorate, Jordan, marking a significant step in health sector development within the framework of Qatar-Jordan cooperation. The project, valued at approximately 10 million Qatari riyals (around $2.7 million), aims to enhance the provision of healthcare services in the region.
The opening ceremony took place with the attendance of Jordan’s Minister of Health, Dr. Ibrahim al-Bdour; Sheikh Saud bin Nasser bin Jassim al-Thani, Qatar’s Ambassador to Jordan; and Yousef bin Ahmed al-Kuwari, Chief Executive Officer of Qatar Charity, alongside local officials and community representatives.
Situated on a 1,769-square-meter site, the new facility is equipped with advanced medical technology and infrastructure to deliver a broad spectrum of primary and comprehensive healthcare services. Key components of the centre include emergency and ambulance departments, a radiology unit, a pharmacy, a dental laboratory, and specialized clinics focused on chronic disease management, maternal and child health, and dentistry. Administrative offices are also housed within the facility.
Dr. al-Bdour highlighted the centre’s role as an important enhancement to Mafraq’s healthcare system, emphasizing its potential to improve service quality and expand access for the local population. He acknowledged Qatar Charity’s contribution to the project and its support in completing the centre.
Qatar Charity’s CEO, al-Kuwari, described the project as part of the organisation’s broader strategy to support community development and extend essential healthcare services. He also expressed appreciation for the cooperation received from Jordan’s Ministry of Health and other relevant bodies that facilitated the timely completion of the centre.
The new health centre is anticipated to alleviate pressure on existing medical facilities in Mafraq and provide integrated healthcare to residents of the governorate and surrounding areas, contributing to improved health outcomes in the region.
