Qatar Charity has officially opened a new educational complex at Darul-Ulum Primary School in Kanvili Kpawmo, located within Ghana’s Sagnarigu Municipality in the Northern Region. The initiative, supported by donors from Qatar, is part of the organization’s ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of education and provide safe, inclusive learning environments for children in underserved communities.
The newly inaugurated facility includes six fully equipped classrooms, a library, an administrative office, and modern sanitation amenities. Designed with accessible pathways, the complex aims to accommodate individuals with disabilities, promoting the principles of inclusive education.
Hassan Awda, director of Qatar Charity’s Ghana office, emphasized that the project aligns with the organization’s strategic focus on education and human capital development. He stressed that the facility offers children a dignified setting conducive to learning, reflecting Qatar Charity’s commitment to sustainable development projects that uplift local communities and foster conditions for future generations to contribute to national progress. Awda highlighted education as a critical driver of sustainable development, poverty alleviation, and improved prospects for youth.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by local dignitaries including Alhassan Suhuyini, Member of Parliament for Tamale North and Ghana’s Deputy Minister for Roads and Highways. Suhuyini commended Qatar Charity and its donors for their contributions, noting the lasting impact such projects have on children and their families. He remarked that the new complex would create a more conducive environment for both students and teachers, potentially leading to better educational outcomes in the region.
Salifu Abdul Razak, the director of Education for Sagnarigu Municipality, also praised the undertaking, pointing out its role in addressing long-standing shortages in educational infrastructure and improving conditions for teaching and learning at the school.
The project is anticipated to significantly improve access to quality education, enhance sanitation services, and provide a safer and more inclusive atmosphere for students and staff. This development comes after years of challenges stemming from inadequate facilities and overcrowded classrooms at the school.
