Several Arab countries and international actors have condemned recent ballistic missile attacks launched by the Houthi group targeting Saudi Arabia, including an attempted strike on Riyadh, the Saudi capital, as well as other cities such as Bish, Taif, Farasan, and Yanbu.
On Sunday, the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement denouncing the missile attacks as hostile acts that pose a serious threat to civilian lives and violate Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty. Qatar characterized the strikes as a clear breach of international norms and expressed full solidarity with Saudi Arabia, supporting all legitimate measures taken to protect its security and territorial integrity.
Similarly, statements from Yemen, Kuwait, Egypt, Bahrain, Lebanon, and Jordan reaffirmed their condemnation of the attacks and expressed support for Saudi Arabia’s right to defend itself. Notably, the Yemeni government strongly criticized the Houthi militia for the missile launch and assaults on civilian targets, describing the actions as violations of sovereignty and threats to regional safety and international navigation. Yemen held the Houthi militia accountable for the attacks and their consequences, and also attributed responsibility to Iran for providing ongoing military support to the group, enabling the continuation of these operations.
In its response, the Yemeni Foreign Ministry called on the international community to transform verbal support into practical steps, urging the implementation of relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions and the disruption of networks that facilitate the militias' military capabilities.
The coordinated condemnation reflects broad regional concern over the escalation of hostilities amid the protracted conflict involving the Houthi movement in Yemen. The attacks targeting Saudi cities have raised alarms regarding the safety of civilian populations and the stability of maritime routes critical to international trade.
Efforts to address the conflict and its repercussions continue to involve various diplomatic and security measures, with affected states emphasizing the need to uphold sovereignty and protect civilian lives within the framework of international law.
